J Patrick is a New York-based makeup artist. During childhood, he had a natural talent for illustration and painting, which led him to develop an amazing ability in makeup artistry. His big break came when he was booked by world-renowned photographer Bruce Weber to work on the notorious catalogs and ad campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch. To date he has worked on such famous faces as Beyonce, Kerri Washington, Paula Abdul, Eve, Kelly Rowland, Hillary Clinton, and many others.
- HOW DID YOU START DOING MAKEUP?
- As a little boy in school, I used to draw on the classroom chalkboard. My teacher would punish me only to find out the next day that I had done it again and again. My natural ability to draw and illustrate evolved into makeup artistry.
- WHAT INFLUENCES YOUR WORK NOW?
- Art such as the great painters like Raphael, Salvador Dali, Miro, and Magritte. Music like Bjork, Cocteau Twins, and Dead Can Dance. Looking back at past decades thinking about how we’ve evolved, where we’re headed.

- Flawless skin and natural enhancement of someone’s features.

- Skin. The skin has to be correct. Airbrushing delivers that flawless result every time.
