Imagine. Inspire. Offset.
Who says makeup artists can’t work green? At Temptu we know that managing one’s impact on the environment is a priority to artists who know that creating beauty in makeup doesn’t have to mean depleting it from the earth.

Carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels are causing a global warming crisis. Fighting global warming starts with you and the actions taken to reduce your carbon emissions every day.

Temptu has gone CarbonFree
We have joined Carbonfund.org’s CarbonFree program in order to offset our carbon emissions. Temptu has committed to support carbon offset renewable energy, energy efficiency, and reforestation projects, to zero-out our carbon footprint. Each project plays an important role in the fight against global warming.

What does it mean to go CarbonFree?
Carbon offsets enable anyone to reduce their climate footprint by supporting projects that reduce carbon dioxide emissions, thus balancing out one's own carbon footprint. We all create carbon dioxide emissions through energy use resulting from activities like driving, heating and cooling our homes, and watching television. Carbon offsetting is the act of reducing an equal amount of carbon elsewhere to counterbalance the carbon emissions from our energy-using activities.

Plant a tree with Temptu.
Whenever we put an airbrush to work, energy is used and carbon emissions created. In order to offset the use of this energy, Temptu will donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of every compressor and airbrush kit towards planting trees through one of Carbonfund.org’s reforestation projects. Planting a tree is a way for us to give back and replace what we take both for Temptu and on our customers’ behalf.

Reforestation
Carbonfund.org supports reforestation projects around the world that reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. Reforestation is a form of carbon sequestration (sequestration is the capture and removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere). Forests capture CO2 and store it in the trees' mass and in the soil. Reforestation projects play a vital role in absorbing emissions and providing time to transition to a new energy future.

Offset your carbon footprint as a makeup artist.
Everyone leaves a carbon footprint, even makeup artists. A typical day in the life of a makeup artist consists of:

25 miles of driving to and from gigs

4 hours of using an airbrush compressor

8 hours of using incandescent lights to apply makeup on a shoot

8 hours of running a fan on a shoot

Washing one’s makeup brushes in running water
This leaves the total makeup artist footprint per day at approximately 22 lbs of Carbon dioxide.

Temptu Spray Green Offset Card
The Temptu Spray Green Offset Card represents approximately 4 months worth of a makeup artist’s working life in which the carbon dioxide that they produce will be reduced from the atmosphere.

Temptu is proud to offer this card as a way to help reduce 1 ton of carbon dioxide emissions with all proceeds from the card going to support the renewable energy, energy efficiency and reforestation projects of Carbonfund.org in the U.S. and around the world.

Reduce, Renew, Recycle
Looking for more ways to reduce your carbon footprint as a makeup artist? Here are a few tips on how to reduce emissions related to the art of beauty:

Rinse your makeup brushes in cold water to conserve energy.

Carpool, bike or take public transportation to photo shoots.

Drive a hybrid car to and from gigs and keep your car well-maintained: tires properly inflated, routine regular

maintenance, and driving slowly all reduce CO2 emissions.

Turn off makeup lights, space heaters and equipment when you’re not working.

Run electricity-dependent fans and lights only when applying make-up.

Switch those incandescent lights for energy-saving CFLs (Compact fluorescent light bulbs).

Make sure you’re using an Energy Star space heater, which can use up to 60% less energy than regular equipment.

Recycle and reuse makeup packaging to keep waste out of landfills.

Be energy conscious when staying at hotels:  Take short showers, turn down the thermostat and turn electronics off

when you leave. Ask housekeeping to refrain from washing your towels and sheets every day.

Take direct flights to destinations, rather than creating excess CO2 with multiple connecting flights.

Ask for vegetarian meals: Going vegetarian can save up to 3,000 lbs of CO2 per year.
